THE MASCARA – HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT ONE

One of the most common questions ladies ask themselves in front of a cosmetics store is what kind of mascara to choose. Mascara has been and will always be a major part of any make-up kit. Often the choice of mascara is influenced by its appearance, advertising or just the first thing we saw on the shelf and grabbed it. As a make-up artist and beauty consultant, I am familiar with the latest trends and products. I will share a few criteria for choosing the right mascara for you.

After trying on Pierre Cardin mascaras, I chose my favourites for my daily make-up routine. Before I tell you more about them, I want to give you some tips for choosing the right mascara:

The first and most important criterion is the type of eyelashes. Some people have shorter eyelashes but have curves. Others have longer eyelashes but are straight and almost invisible. With age, the eyelashes become thinner and lose their natural curves. The same can happen to people who treat them incorrectly.

Once we have determined the type of lashes, we should also specify their needs - lengthening, volume and curving, or maybe everything in a set.

Something that may have seemed insignificant to you so far as a criterion is to determine the type of mascara by the size of our eye. If you are a lady with smaller eyes and have a shorter lash band, it is good to consider the size and length of the brush in the mascara you choose. If you choose a mascara with a longer and more voluminous brush, you may inadvertently injure your eye and stain your upper eyelid.

It is good to get familiar with the initial characteristics of mascara - the type of brush and row material, the composition of the mascara, texture and effect. Let's distinguish the types of brushes and textures. They can be with stiff bristles or soft plastic bristles. They can be classic, curved, rounded, wavy, hourglass type, triangular arrangement type, asymmetric, etc. Mascara with straight soft plastic bristles works well for all lashes, especially for ladies with straighter and shorter lashes. Classic brushes with stiff bristles are most preferred because they are also suitable for all lashes types. More voluminous brushes (e.g. hourglass type) handle better lashes, with a curve and good length. For straighter and weaker lashes, the creamy formula of some mascaras often weighs down and straightens lashes even more. You may use such a mascara on short and straight lashes if you apply eyelash base/serum under it. Curved silicone brushes help to emphasize the natural curve, and curved textile - gives the already lost curves. A mascara with a smaller brush is more suitable for ladies with small eyes.

Many women have health problems with their eyes, wearing glasses, contact lenses or have other types of irritations. For this reason, the industry has taken care to invest in all possible innovations and create mascaras whose formulas are completely purified and hypoallergenic. These mascaras are suitable for ladies with sensitive eyes and those looking for a more nourishing and gentle product for their eyelashes. Hypoallergenic mascaras are not inferior in quality to the classic ones.

The waterproof formula of the spirals is also quite preferred, especially by ladies with a hectic daily life. Waterproof spirals are the safest option in case we inadvertently rub our eyes, for one reason or another we cry or just the weather conditions surprise us. From a make-up artist's point of view, I always bet on a waterproof mascara when working with brides or prom girls so that they can have security even in their most emotional moments.

I have noticed an increased interest in a product, that many women consider insignificant -eyelashes base. It can be nourishing serum or a classic mascara base. It can nourish and strengthen the lashes and contribute to their more effective vision. A frequently asked question to me is if the product can be used on its own. Yes, it is quite possible. Sometimes our lashes are not in the best condition, but we still want them to stand out without using a classic mascara. At these times, a mascara foundation or nourishing serum comes to the rescue. Most mascara foundations already contain nutrients that are not inferior to eyelash serums, but I would choose a serum, due to the presence of more nutrients and its healing and revitalizing effect in the long-run period. The use of this type of product allows ladies with short and straight eyelashes to lift them and give them a good base for applying mascara. The lashes accept the curve set by the base and can withstand even mascaras with a more creamy formula and a more voluminous brush, without weighing them down.
